On Friday, December 6, 2013, our Structural Steel Division was acquired by Benjamin Steel Company of Springfield, Ohio. This transaction only involves the Structural Steel Division. There is no change to the ownership or operation of our rebar mill, rebar sales and fabrication, or metal scrap divisions.

This sale allows Byer Steel to streamline our business interests, and gives us the ability to concentrate our focus and expertise on what we do best: rebar and scrap. When approaching this acquisition, we made sure that the best interests of our structural steel customers and employees remained at the forefront.

The new company will operate as Frederick Steel, a name that we were proud to use in the past, and one that we are confident will continue to deliver world-class customer service, high quality products and innovative value added services.

All three companies: Byer Steel, Benjamin Steel (benjaminsteel.com) and Frederick Steel (fredericksteel.com) are committed to a smooth transition. While there is some product and territory overlap, you will still call the sales representative or account manager you have dealt with in the past with each company.
